Now calling Missouri home since moving there from Texas in late 2007, Marney, a Certified Paralegal, handles litigation and trial support for a boutique labor and employment defense law firm in St. Louis. She also acts as an independent advocate in the educational and judicial systems representing children and adults with disabilities, is a direct-entry midwife, and along with her husband John, is the management team of the RenBoots Shoppe for the St. Louis Renaissance Festival.
Since the early 1980s, Marney has been active in the faire community in a variety of ways – as a long-time musical performer and crafter for various festivals including Scarborough Faire and the Texas Renaissance Festival; as vendor coordinator of the North Texas Irish Festival; and as part of the former craft management team for the St. Louis Renaissance Festival. Currently, in addition to running the shoppe at the St. Louis faire with her husband, she continues to provide midwifery care when requested, a welcoming overnight stop for community members traveling between venues, and safe camping/housing for the run of the St. Louis faire.
Marney has volunteered for RESCU for several years in many ways, most recently acting as event oversight of the St. Louis RESCU Rally prior to joining the Board in 2018. In her capacity as a board member, she brings her professional knowledge and expertise to RESCU through her work as part of the Governance and Programs Committees and as Chair of the Compliance Committee.
