Gayle, a native-born Texan, started braiding hair in 1981 at Renaissance Festivals, and is a co-owner of Twisted Sisters. Her involvement with RESCU began as a teaching tool for herself–to know and understand her options without having health insurance–as she is a traveling crafter on the circuit, and to learn about and use the resources RESCU has researched and developed.
She holds degrees in Art, Interior Design, and Accounting, plus a teaching certificate from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Gayle is the mother of two adult children and is married to the love of her life. Gayle’s son, Ryan, committed suicide in 2015; she is dedicated to making involvement in mental health a priority for RESCU.
Gayle joined the RESCU Board in 2009. She has worn several RESCU hats: President, Vice-President and Secretary; while always a stable on the Aid Panel. She is happily now an active Board member, serving on both the Programs and CCS committees.
